For this journal. I'm changing to a new one.

So if anyone feels like re-friending me, feel free.

Oh man I am so busy lately.
This morning I got up at five to go to the gym with friends and I haven't had time to relax since then. And I'm getting up at five again tomorrow. I feel fantastic.  HOW LONG CAN THIS LAST.
But running around like an ant on crack does jumpstart creativity apparently. I have to be constantly occupied or else my mind stagnates and I just slump into a useless pile of organs.

Fanart, designs, and one ugly fish. )

My friends convinced me to do a "Week in the Life" photo collage/project thing with them. I have a few pictures so far (some with entertaining stories behind them) but I'm too tired to upload them all tonight. Five AM wakeup and all that rot.

So for now, here's a squirrel.
It just sat there right in front of me burying an acorn and wouldn't move. I would have stepped on it if I hadn't looked down. WTF. No squirrel on Long Island ever behaved like this.
MY SUSPICIONS ARE AROUSED.

They're like the ugly clingy little children you can't help but love.
I just realized how awesome screencaps are.

current song: Pretty Toy- Velvet Acid Christ

This is what I get out of all those hours "studying" in the library. ...I think I have yet to even open a book there.

I wanted to draw water. Very quick. Shading is eh.

I shaded it. It ended up very rudimentary since I couldn't decide what kind of overlay effects I should do. But I like the folds in Pein's shirt.

Ah, the latest FMA chapter made me very happy.
I was all set to draw his foot (I never draw feet) but then I wimped out at the last minute and cropped the remaining sketch. Now that I think of it, I probably shouldn't have done that. The angle seems strange when the toes are concealed. Outline is sketchy. I'll fix it when I'm motivated.

It seems that Envy is my sin.

And this is what I saw outside the library window. >_<
Honestly, as long as I have eyeballs I am never going to be able to stay on track with homework.

MORE DOODLES YO.

January 18th, 2009 (09:06 pm)
current location: My house
current song: Bombtrack- Rage Against the Machine

Okay, so here we go.
These actually all started as doodles (and by doodles, I mean scribbly stuff in MS Paint) and I kept deciding to add outlines... maybe some colors... maybe some shading... and then they turned into these things. Evolved, if you will (like Ghastlys into Haunters, and that deserves glee. End pointless Pokemon reference).

The primary idea behind this picture was actually the sky color. I was driving one night and saw that the sky was a weird color I couldn't really describe (like yellowish purple) and it haunted me until I reproduced it in digital form. Then I just turned it into a picture so I wouldn't be too weirded out by myself. (Sublimation is good!)

This is a gift for Zana~ only the rough draft, I have yet to spruce it up.
And seriously, I'd like to know why the hell nobody else is aware of/ships this pairing. The potential psychological interaction is basically rutting in and of itself.
So now I guess I have a sacred mission or something.

I like Vegetables.

January 17th, 2009 (08:45 pm)

I contemplated my body mass today and realized that perhaps too much coffee is not helping my situation. Seeing as drinking a large from Dunkin Donuts is for me roughly the equivalent of taking speed, (as my brother aptly observed: "Emily, why do you keep twitching like that?") maybe I should cut down on my consumption. And replace it with, say, drinking vats of butter.

Only one more day at home (hence one more night of my sister's cat laying on my face) until I go back to school. Anticipation abounds. I specifically wonder what my computer art class will be like; hopefully my doodlings will have prepared me in some respect. I also have a new roommate. I'll meet her on Monday if the decor on my side of the room hasn't scared her off already.

And I can't wait to get back to the gym. MY ENDORPHIN CRAVING WILL BE SATISFIED *insert meaningless manic gibberish*.

current song: From the Ritz to the Rubble- Arctic Monkeys

I think maybe I'm going to try to do a picture for each Akatsuki member (note the lack of absolute commitment).
So Hidan is next.

Background is awful, but the picture looks boring without it. And I know that there should be some sort of background to the right of him, but I made a conscious decision not to do it. I don't think it really works, but oh well.

How do you entertain yourself when you’re bored at work?

Replace "work" with "college" and I think I can work with this.

The answer depends, really. The universal remedy for boredom (the "quick fix") would be doodling on the margins of notebook paper (or, if I'm particularly affluent at the moment, on my tablet- and if I have jack shit, on my arm). My notebooks over the years would be a veritable cornucopia of delights to a Freudian psychoanalyst.

I actually took (skeptically) a doodle analysis test- a silly thing, really, although perhaps I should reevaluate it (or my own mental health) based on the results. One of my usual motifs in doodles is repeating, sometimes linked triangles shaded with cross hatching in alternating patterns. Such a simple, innocent thing- little triangles lined up across a page. They never hurt anybody that I know of.
But apparently these innocuous shapes depict: subconscious aggression, autism, and compulsions. (The autism part came as no surprise.)
And my other less abstract doodles are supposedly evidence of a complex mind with tendencies toward the masculine as well as stability issues.
The future looks bright.

Other things I do to amuse myself in class would be staring into the middle distance (it's hard, try it sometime) and intentionally imposing blackouts on myself (i.e. intense daydreaming where I actually do not interpret auditory and/or visual stimuli around me. Is this normal?) [self titled/defined].

One thing I worry about is whether or not my first job will accomodate me with a swivel chair. I recognize that this one object alone is pivotal in my potential success. I guarantee that if I am given one, I will be fired within the first week.
